Aloha, Japan!

Aloha, Japan!

Japan was a whirl-wind of a trip, that we were able to fit into the tail end of our honeymoon travel…With the help of our friends who are currently living in Japan we were able to make the most of the short time we had there.

Amazing food, great friends, and good vibes.

Japan had so much to offer, and we had little time to see it all, but heres some of the main attractions we were able to hit in the Tokyo area.

The Harajuku district (above)…the infamous shopping area that Gwen Steffani used to sing about. Well it didn’t disappoint in crazy-cool local fashionistas and the many brightly lite store fronts all trying to entice you to come in and see the spectacle that Tokyo has to offer. The streets were lined with knick-knack type booths filled with anything from elaborately designed socks, Hello Kitty stuffed animals, and platform shoes. Any type of food, drink, or store you can ever want or dream up you can find in this hodgepodge city. And it’s fantastic.

Cat Cafes are a real thing.

Whats better, so are owl cafes. And we visited one.

As my husband said about 100 times that was a hoot.

One of the coolest things about Japan was that in the middle of the concrete jungle of Tokyo, you can find yourself immersed with ancient culture. If you’re looking for a little calm in the city you can visit a Shinto shrine, gardens, and temples.

We had no shortage of good eats while in Japan. I think it goes without saying that the Sushi is the best you can get, the sake is strong, and for the adventurous eater you can try just about anything you wish (my husband ate raw crocodile, horse *sad I know* and even kangaroo) I stuck with miso soup and rice at that particular restaurant but hey, when in Rome.

We spent our last day in Yokohama. Another fun city not too far from Tokyo. There we went to Chinatown, ate some dim sum, and did some shopping.
